This was a fun little experience we created for exhibiting at CreativeMix 2009. The theme of the event was creativity and inspiration.
The experience was made up of a number of elements - video, a book and other physical elements. We used a book, so turning pages in a book, to drive the entire experience.
As viewers paged through the book, the environment became an extension of the underlying message. So we expanded on what was shown and written by introducing video interviews about the topic, we triggered elements like a controllable balloon and triggered a marble run. An iPod touch served as a touch interface to interactively answer questions posed by, in this case, a young girl - you had to guess the colour of here balloon. Just before this a balloon was lowered into the scene using a motor controller. As you tried to guess the colour of her balloon she would answer.... if you got it wrong she’d ask you to try again. Each time you tried to guess, the balloon colour would change to the colour you selected.
We shot several interviews with the overall theme being “a kid at heart”. We felt that being in touch with that “inner kid” goes a long way in remaining creative and inspired. Along with this we used supporting imagery on a second screen to help theme the little experience.
The experience was very well received and everyone that interacted had a lot of fun…
